Muriel’s Wedding (1994)








This is the story of a typical Australian girl, Muriel (Toni Collette) who feels out of place in her home town of Porpoise Spit. Her days are spent in naive fantasies about her wedding day and her obsession with ABBA. When an opportunity to ‘get’ some money arises, it leads her down a path of complete craziness and adventure. While full of humour, this film actually deals with the identity struggle that so many people face as they grow older, as well as how self-esteem issues and disappointment can in turn affect life and where it takes you.


The trailer follows Muriel from her humble origins to her crazy adventures in Sydney, as Muriel, along with her best friend Rhonda who is a party- hard, man-crazy girl.
