I travelled the big loop from Kununarra to Darwin, Cairns, down the east coast, Tasmania, Adelaide to Perth and back up to Darwin, then down to Alice springs.
I stayed in Sydney for 8 months at first and worked 5 months in Kununarra, 3 months on Rottnest island and 2 months 1/2 in Alice Springs.
What was the budget for your trip ?
around $1000-$1500/months travelling
around $2000/month in Sydney
What is the most beautiful place in Australia to you?
South coast of Western Australia, Rottnest island (WA), Karijini NP (WA), Kimberleys (WA) and Royal National Park (New South Wales)
What was your favourite moment/event in Australia ?
The Sunrise on bondi beach during the Sydney festival, with a choir singing along.
What do you think about Australians and life in Australia?
Australians are very friendly and easy going with a good ability to enjoy life but there is an obvious lack of culture in Australia and in Australian life and this « no worries » tradition also has its bad sides when thinking about the aboriginal condition in Australia; bad things are easily forgotten and hidden…
For how long do you intend to stay in Australia? (or how long did you stay?)
One year became two
If you were to give a piece of advice to someone coming to Australia, what would it be?
Don’t think too much, don’t plan too much !
And a second piece of advice?
Take as little as you can with you
If you were to do it again, what would you change ?
I would not stay 8 months in Sydney, I would start travelling earlier
