How to Renew a Working Holiday Visa ?

This visa can be renewed under general requirements. The main condition is to « have completed three months of specified work in regional Australia while on your first working holiday visa ».

The most common way to renew your WHV is to have worked for a minimum of 3 months in fruit picking or farm work, but specified work also includes : plant and animal cultivation, fishing and pearling, tree farming, mining and construction.

The definition of Regional Australia excludes ACT as a whole and all major cities and their suburbs for NSW, Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia. All South Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania are classified as part of the regional Australia.

Statements must be provided by your employer as a proof of meeting this requirement.

DIAC is aware that some regional Australia companies have been taking advantage of WHVisa holders and arrange fake work certificate in consideration of financial reward. This is illegal and many issues have occurred, in particular if you try to leave Australia once your second WHVisa has been granted in light of fake employment experience in regional Australia.

Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462)

Australia whvThis visa is the equivalent of the WHV described above for applicants from Bangladesh, Chile, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey and the USA. The conditions to be granted a Work and Holiday Visa are different depending on your country of origin. To know more about those conditions, visit this page and enter your country of origin.

Note that most countries under this visa program have a limit on the number of Work and Holiday visas issued per year.
