Tips for staying connected with your team while working remotely.

Tip #1 – Stay Connected

 

Although lockdown is slowly starting to ease, it’s likely that many businesses will continue working remotely for the coming months, and with some businesses making the decision to go fully remote, working from home might be the new norm for some employees. As we continue to work remotely, one of the biggest components missing is the interaction with colleagues, and trust me, you don’t want your employees to feel alienated.

 

Having a cuppa together in the morning and catching up for Friday drinks at the office doesn’t have to be a thing of the past. Don’t let your work relationships fizzle during this time of social distancing. Have regular check-ins with individual team members just to say hi and check on how they are going and ensure that everyone gets that attention.

 

Establish virtual drinks or coffee chats with your team or set up video check-ins over a cup of coffee in the morning at least once a week. You can also set up a specific communications channel on Slack (or the software of your choice) for your team.

This is a great way to encourage people to share tips and experiences on working from home, as well as encouraging conversation which is key to keeping teams close and cohesive.

 

When restrictions allow, meeting face-to-face even occasionally can boost morale. Whilst technology can do much, it can never fully replace human interaction. Coffee, drinks, a meal, or a jog are great ways to catch up and reconnect (with the proper social distancing of course).

 

We caught up with the team over lunch yesterday and it was lovely to see everyone after going for almost a month without seeing each other face to face.
