Candidate Testimonial – How Rosana Landed a Communications and Community Internship in FinTech

Today, Rosana shares her experience of how Australiance Talent assisted her journey in becoming a Marketing Intern and then transitioning into a Marketing Specialist at FundBase.
1. Introduce yourself. Where are you from, and what are you doing now?
Hello! I’m Rosana, originally from Brazil, and I’ve been living in Australia since January 2023. I currently work as a Marketing Specialist at FundBase Group.
2. Let’s rewind to the start. How did you first hear about Australiance, and what made you apply for the internship at FundBase?
I was looking for a new experience in my field, so I optimised my LinkedIn profile to better align with the roles I was aiming for. That’s when Celine reached out to me via LinkedIn DM, introducing me to the internship opportunity. As I was interested, we proceeded with the interview process.
Celine guided me through the first steps in such a smooth and welcoming way that I immediately felt comfortable. Later, when I reached the stage where I met the founders of FundBase Group, I was quite nervous. That’s when Pooja kindly called me the day before to help me get familiar with the company, team, and culture. She was amazing!
3. What was it like when you first joined? Any memorable or funny moments from your early days?
The first thing I remember was meeting Luna, our office dog, aka the Chief Fluffy Officer and the best mascot we could ever have! Then, I was truly impressed by the incredible team and leadership. Having Anna, a strong female leader with extensive knowledge in finance and investment, was inspiring. And of course, combining her expertise with Richard’s experience, they make an incredible management team! That’s when I knew I wanted to stay longer.
4. How did your role evolve over time? Was there a moment when you thought, "I really want to stay here?"
Initially, I was excited about the idea of a six-month internship, especially since I had planned to return to Brazil afterward. But after a couple of months, Richard and Anna offered me a full-time position. That’s when I realised how happy I was at FundBase Group! I truly enjoyed the team, the work, and the office environment. Everything felt right, and accepting the offer turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
5. Looking back, what advice would you give to other international students hoping to land an employment in Australia?
Don’t give up! I know it can be tough to find a job in your field, and sometimes roles in hospitality, labour, or construction seem like the only options. But if this is not what you look for, stay focused, set your direction, and keep working towards your goal—it’s worth it!
